Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Nanjing – First Impression of the Ancient Jinling City
Whole Day: Arrive in Nanjing and enjoy exclusive private transfer from the airport or high-speed railway station. Check into exclusive accommodation for study tours with closed safety management. Attend the opening ceremony of the study camp, where the tour arrangements, disciplines and study manuals will be distributed and explained in detail.
Afternoon: Stroll along the Confucius Temple & Qinhuai River Scenic Belt. Gain on-site knowledge of the millennium cultural context of the Qinhuai River and the prosperous history of Jinling in the Six Dynasties. Visit the ancient building complex of Confucius Temple and learn about the imperial examination culture in ancient China.
Evening: Enjoy a night cruise along the Qinhuai River and admire the stunning night scenery. Experience the ancient artistic conception of "the prosperous Qinhuai River and the glorious Six Dynasties", and keep a study observation diary.
Day 2 Elegance of the Six Dynasties – Ancient Capital History & Garden Aesthetics
Morning: Visit the Nanjing Museum, one of China’s top three major museums. Under the guidance of professional study tutors, systematically appreciate prehistoric cultural relics, celadon wares of the Six Dynasties, calligraphy and paintings of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and royal treasures. Sort out the millennium historical context of the Jiangnan region and learn the stories behind cultural relics through immersive experience.
Afternoon: Explore Zhan Garden, one of the four famous gardens in Jiangnan. Learn about the landscape design art of Jiangnan gardens, including rockeries, ponds and winding corridors, compare the differences between northern and southern Chinese gardens, and attend a special garden aesthetics class.
Evening: Hold group study discussions to summarize the urban culture and historical characteristics of the ancient Six Dynasties capital.
Day 3 Remembrance of Mountains and Rivers – Red Study & Patriotic Education
Morning: Visit the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. Participate in a solemn patriotic and peace education activity, learn authentic historical facts, remember history, cherish peace and establish a correct view of history.
Afternoon: Tour Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum. Learn about the revolutionary deeds of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the modern development history of China, and understand the architectural style, overall layout and design concepts of the mausoleum’s Republican-era buildings.
Evening: Themed study class: Reform and Growth of Modern China.
Day 4 Ancient Charm of the Ming Dynasty – Exploration of Ancient Architecture & Urban Context
Morning: Hike along the Nanjing Ming City Wall, the largest brick and stone ancient city wall in the world. On-site learn about the construction techniques of Ming Dynasty city walls and ancient urban defense systems, and understand the 600-year urban changes of Nanjing.
Afternoon: Visit Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, a World Cultural Heritage site and the mausoleum of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty. Study the architectural norms of imperial mausoleums in the Ming and Qing dynasties, ancient funeral culture, stone carving art and traditional feng shui culture.
Evening: Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) hands-on experience: make Jinling paper-cutting and Qinhuai lanterns to experience traditional folk customs.
Day 5 Urban Folk Culture – Summary & Departure
Morning: Study tour inLaomen East Historical and Cultural Block. Explore the folk culture, traditional streets and ancient residential buildings of old Nanjing, and perceive the integration and changes of the city from ancient to modern times.
Noon: Taste featured Nanjing delicacies such as duck blood vermicelli soup and salted duck, and experience the catering culture of Jiangnan.
Afternoon: Attend the closing ceremony, receive study tour certificates and summarize the gains of the 5-day study tour. Take exclusive transfer to the airport or high-speed railway station to end the tour successfully.
